THE RETURN TO SAMBA
Following up on the digital platform success of 'Mera Ilusão' in 2018, Brazilian born singer/songwriter, Caro Pierotto, returns to her Samba roots with her new album 'Sambalismo'.
The album was recorded live in Rio de Janeiro during a magical week of full immersion at Rocinante Studios, where Caro and her core band from Los Angeles and some of the best instrumentalists of today in the music scene in Rio made magic happen.
The album is composed of ten unreleased songs, all in Portuguese and it is an homage to all the Brazilian musicians that came before me and open the path for Brazilian music abroad.like, Carmen Miranda, Tom Jobim, João Gilberto, Astrud Gilberto and Sergio Mendes.
Grecco Buratto and Caro share half of the authorship of the album, with the classic Bossa Nova 'Meros Mortais' and the Sambas 'Não Dá Pra Esconder', 'Sei Lá', 'Nesse Jogo' and 'Mal Acostumado', which is inspired by their dear deceased furry son, Max.
‘O Caminho’, a Samba that visits the Afro-Brazilian rhythm Afoxé, was co-written with JP Mourão and Felipe Fraga, the singer’s stage partners since the beginning of her career.
A highlight of the album is ‘À Nossa Volta’, a beautiful Samba-Canção sung in a duet with the illustrious composer and artist from Rio de Janeiro, Rogê, who also co-wrote the song with Grecco Buratto.
'Espaçonave' the Samba-Rock hit from the album, 'Recado dos Anjos' a romantic samba de roda and the explosive Samba School influenced 'Pára e Repara' are the singer 's solo work.
'Sambalismo' is Caro's best work yet. It showcases musical maturity, the strength of her songwriting and the fun spirit of her personality.
